Veteran's Day Celebration and Ceremony
Monday, November 11, 2024 (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) (PST)
Description
Join us on November 11th as we honor our veterans with a special celebration at the Columbia Gorge Museum. This year, we will commemorate the end of hostilities in World War I with a ceremony that brings our community together in remembrance and gratitude. At exactly 11:11 AM, the museum will ring its bells 11 times, an official act through the organization "The Bells of Peace," signifying a moment of reflection for those who served. Following this tribute, attendees will be treated to a heartwarming performance by a choir, who will sing a selection of meaningful songs from the World War I era. This musical interlude, lasting about 15 minutes, will evoke the spirit of resilience and camaraderie that defined that time, connecting us to the sacrifices made by our veterans. The Museum will also dedicate a "Never Forget Garden" in a moving ceremony through the Honor Guard of the Society of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This garden will serve as a lasting tribute to those who have served in the military, providing a peaceful place for reflection and remembrance. We invite everyone to join us for this meaningful event, as we honor the courage and sacrifices of our veterans and ensure their legacy endures in our hearts and community.
