Remnants of Gorge History: QUILTS - Temporary Exhibition at the Columbia Gorge Museum
Saturday, April 12, 2025 (2:00 PM - 4:00 PM) (PDT)
Description
The Columbia Gorge Museum is proud to present its newest temporary exhibition, Remnants of Gorge History: QUILTS, opening on April 12, 2025. This exhibition, created by artists from Beyond the Block: Art Quilters of the Gorge, introduces a stunning display of quilted artwork weaving together a rich history, culture, and the natural beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.
Each quilt in this exhibition tells a story—drawing from historical patterns, traditional techniques, and the unique perspectives of local quilters. Through intricate stitching, color selection, and fabric layering, the collection captures the essence of life in the Gorge, from its rugged landscapes to the communities that call it home.
This exhibition is a celebration of art and a tribute to quilting as a storytelling medium. Visitors are invited to explore the artistry of these textiles and appreciate the deep connections between fabric, memory, and place. Remnants of Gorge History: QUILTS will be available for public viewing from April 12 through June 12 during Museum hours (10am to 5pm).
Meet the artists at an opening reception on April 12 at 2pm.
