To honor those who have served in our Military, the Museum participates in the "Bells of Peace" movement where a bell is struck 11 times at 11:11 to mark the end of hostilities of World War One and to reflect on the sacrifices made. Additionally, the Museum will have an honor guard, taps, and a speaker from The Society of the Honor Guard from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Gavin McIlvenna served as a Tomb Guard with honor and he was also deployed to serve in war zones. Currently he serves in the Oregon State Police. The Columbia Gorge Museum proudly maintains a "Never Forget" Garden to continue our appreciation for those who have served.
