Forestlands: Why State Trust Lands Matter to Every Business

94% of Skamania County is forested and nearly 90% of that forestland is managed by our state and federal governments.  While federal forestlands are mostly managed for conservation, State trust lands play a vital role in providing revenue that supports schools, public services, and local communities. Decisions about how these lands are managed have far-reaching effects on businesses, employment, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.

This session will explore how forestland management affect far more than the timber industry. Learn how land management decisions influence local jobs, public funding, and the long-term economic health of our county, and why this issue matters to businesses of every size and sector.

Speakers include:
WKO Lumber Mill
Matt Comisky - American Forest Resource Council
Katie Whittier - CFM Advocates
Emily Paxson - Green Diamond
